Live Life Purposefully
This video shows of a lady, upon retirement, felt extremely lost in life and did not think life was worth living anymore. Fortunately, her filial son made her a bucket list of interesting tasks for her to spend her time more meaningfully - she has since became more positive and has tried many things she has always wanted to.
Commentary by Ada:
For many of us, we enter the workplace after we graduate from school. Most of our productive years will be spent at work, with the main purpose being to earn a livelihood. When working, many of us feel jaded and tired, and hope to be free one day to able to do everything and anything that we like. However, very contradictory, when some of us eventually reach retirement years or even leave a job, we feel a bit lost.
It seems we tie our sense of identity to our job title and also how much money we're making. But we're so much more than a job and money. We have our unique personality, strengths, abilities, interests, people who love us, so why do we have such a narrow perspective on our identity?
To me, life is more about making a footprint in the world - how many people have you helped, whether you have forged positive relationships with your loved ones and whether you have do your best to reach whatever you always wished to achieve.
How will you define yourself? I hope it will be something you find it meaningful to fight and live for, and won't regret when you look back in life.
